1. What is the purpose of the treatment?
Microneedling is a collagen stimulating treatment meant to reduce fine lines and smooth out uneven surface texture caused by aging and scarring. Microneedling rejuvenates the skin from within creating immediate results that continues to improve the skin through a few cell turnover cycles (one cell turnover cycle is usually about a month).
2. Who is this treatment appropriate for?
This treatment is ideal for those looking to treat acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, laxity, and overall skin rejuvenation. This treatment can be beneficial for all ages and skin types. For clients specifically looking to reduce fine lines or acne scarring a series of 3 sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart is ideal. For clients looking to maintain a healthy and rejuvenated complexion treatments every 2-4 months are ideal. This treatment provides noticeable results with minimum down time. Microneedling is great in preparation for a special event and can be done 10-14 days prior to an event in order for your skin to look its best.
3. What is the down time and post care requirements?
The skin must be stimulated in order for collagen regeneration to occur. The following are post care requirements and expectations.
Immediately After Treatment
Skin can appear red and splotchy. It can feel tight and stimulated. Products WILL NOT be applied post treatment in order to allow the skin to breathe and heal. It is best to go home and relax after the treatment and not stimulate the skin too much. Evening and weekend appointments are available for your convenience. No products are applied until Day 1 Post Treatment
Day 1 Post Treatment
Some of the initial inflammation is reduced in the skin, but some redness may persist. It can appear as if you had been in the sun. Many clients report looking tan or sunburn on this day. Makeup may be applied in order to reduce the appearance of redness. Clients are advised to begin using PCA Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum
Day 2-3 Post Treatment
Skin is still healing and may be slightly sensitive, but will appear normal. It is advised to continue using the PCA Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum in order to drive hydration into the skin. Clients should begin to notice an improvement in the skin.
Day 4 Post Treatment
Skin will continue to heal for a few more days. It is advised to use the PCA Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum until the bottle is finished. Clients can begin to incorporate normal home care routine an should notice a continued improved appearance in the skin.
4. Is there discomfort?
Microneedling is a stimulating treatment and there is a sensation as the micropoints glide across the skin. Level of discomfort depends on your personal pain tolerance. A numbing agent is used in order to minimize discomfort. Depth of penetration can be adjusted in order to reduce sensation level. Clients have reported feeling a sensation but that it is not intolerable.
5. Can it be combined with other treatments?
Microneedling can be combined with other treatments. I am offering microneedling with dermaplane and microneedling with chemical peels. Please let me know if you are interested in combination treatments or if you would like to know if it is right for you.
